First impressions are the most important. Everyone tells you this. But who is "Everyone"? And what makes them so smart? Some of my best friends gave me a terrible, and somewhat frightening first impression. I've never been one to listen to what other peopletell me to do, and I usually ignore the all powerful and the oh-so knowledgeable "Everyone". I'm not a people-person and when it comes to making friends, I try not to make assumptions (you know what people say about making assumptions...). Alot of times, first impression are big misunderstandings.
On a totally different note, I've found some quotes that I like...
"What a blessing it would be if we could open and shut our ears as easliy as we open and shut our eyes!"
Gosh, I wish we could do that! There are times when I just do not what to listen to the ramble of the people around me. Though this would be helpful on long car rides, bussiness flights and other social situation that aren't super pleasan, it would start an epiedemic of selective-hearing.
"Actions lie louder than words"
How true. Someone can say one thing and then what they do is something totally different. Despite popular beleif, lying is not good. It does not get you anywhere, really. It just makes you look like an idiot when your finally caught in the lie.
"If you don't have anything nice to say about someone, come sit over here with me."
By far, my favorite quote. Souns like something me or one of my friends would say. I'm a serial gossiper. I almost can't help it and its pretty terrible because I'm a really good bullshitter.
"A man's silence is wonderful to listen to"
A quote from Thomas Hardy. I'm not totally sure who he is but I agree. If what your going to say isn't vital to my survial, I probably don't care. Sorry, I like silence.
