Let's start from the begining, we got to Merriweather around 9:30 and waited in line for about an hour and a half. While we waited we met some interesting people. Most of them were promoting bands. A few bands really caught my attention- Set Phasers To Stun and Westland. I traded Silly Bandz with one of the guys from Set Phasers to Stun and we met every memeber of Westland and bought their CD. Jacob's Ladder was another band that talked to us. Sammy, bass and vocals, From Jacob's ladder had some crazy hair, but the band is actually really good!
We finally made in into the concert area arounnd 11:00 am. The one band that I wanted to see the most was The Cab. They had already started their set when we got there, so we ran down to the main stage and got some great pictures. I missed their signing... That kind of sucked. after The Cab finished their set, we went to check the rest of the day's lineup. On the way, we met the Bassist from the band The Sunstreak, who got us to buy their CD and a t-shirt. Their CD is very good and I love the lyrics! (Alex Deleon from The Cab, shown below)
We got the lineup and then we went to watch Hey Monday. We were pretty close to the stage and the press enterance so we got to see almost everything. My friend totally freaked out over Jersey, bassist, from Hey Monday. Their set wasn't real long but it was good. After Hey Monday, we went to get water and put sunblock on and all that fun stuff that keeps you alive at all day concerts!
We walked around for a while and found a band that we had never heard of before. They were called We Are The In Crowd and they were great! we watched their whole set and loved it! The band is made up of Tay Jardine (lead singer), Jordan Eckes (gutiar and vocals), Mike Ferri (bassist), Cameron Hurley (guitar) and Rob Chianelli (drums). Later on in the day, I got a poster signed by the whole band. I was most excited that I got a few clear picture of Jordan and the rest of the band. (Shown below)
Suicide Silence played a set right after We Are The In Crowd on a nearby stage, so we went over. That band is a bit scary to begin with, but throw in the giant mosh pit, the screaming people, the circle pit of death and angry lead singer and it was almost surreal. The pit of death was suggested by Mitch Lucker (lead singer). We got caught right in the middle of it. People were throwing punches and screaming, waterbottles were flying and there was a headbanging contest. We got out of there pretty quickly... After that, we watched some of the Dillenger Escape Plan's set and they threw applesauce in to the crowd and we got hit with it.
After more sunblock and another water, we went down to the main stage and watched some band that we didn't know the name of and never found out. We waited for our one friend to go to the meet and greet with We The Kings before their set. while she was meeting them, me and my other friend bought a bunch of stuff that we didn't need...
We The Kings had one of the best sets of the day. They were the last band that we saw and we made it all the way to the front of the crowd. I was smashed againist the gate that divided the stage from the crowd. I was so close to the wall of pseakers that I swear it blew my hair back. Travis Clark (lead singer) totally made the heat worth it. He really knew how to make the crowd go insane! I got alot of great pictures because we were so close to the stage. She Takes Me High was my favorite song that they played and it sounded great!
At the end of the day, me and friends left, dirty, sweaty, tired and looking like we had just left a war zone. My eyeliner had ran down my face and it looked like I had been punched repeatedly in the face. This was the first year I had been to Warped Tour and it was so much fun and I will for sure be going next year!
