I've fallen back into my old ways, once again, I'm reading a vampire book. Well, rereading my second favorite vampire book. No, its not Twilight or any of the books in the saga. The book I'm reading is Th Queen of the Damned written by Anne Rice. The characters in this book are immortal and never age. This concept seems to appeal to alot of people.
This book makes me think about what kind of person would be able to handle a life that never ends. It also makes me wonder if immortality is all that it's cracked up to be.
If you could live forever, you would never have to worry about your own death, only the death of the people around you. You would get to see how the world changes across hundreds, even thousands, of years. Living forever would probably give you a sense of unlimited freedom and power, which could be a negative thing. If you're a vampire immortal, you can only go outside at night. You would also have to drink the blood of mortals to keep on living like you are. You would probably look different than the normal people walking the streets, so that could make it difficult to blend in...
If you live forever, you'll have to watch the people that you love live their life and die. When you can never die, but everyone in your life already has, what do you have to live for? This would be the part that I would have the biggest problem dealing with. I won't mind never growing old or watching the world change around me, but I would be lost without my friends and family.
It seems like alot of people like the idea of living forever and never growing any older, but before you go looking for a vampire, think about it.
If any immortal being comes across this, I hope you like it and leave me a comment! Or maybe even follow my blog??
